David and I grew up together on the same block in Grand Rapids Michigan and graduated Grand Rapids Catholic Central Together. David drove us to High School and made sure we paid the 50 cent fee every week. although we lost contact as we went through life we shared many fond memories in our formative years. Zak and Shared a were greatlot of growing up time together and the memories are fond and great. God has received you in his arms my old pal. MAY you finally rest in PEACE with HIM YONK

Dave was mostly gone overseas when I knew him, but he would visit Prairie Unitarian Universalist Society when he was in town. He would usually stay with George and Ruth Caulden, and he always brought to sell to us beautiful handmade things from his friends wherever he was living.

Dave used to talk about being on his high school football team, which, knowing Dave's gentle manner, was difficult to imagine. But the best part was that his team knew him as a ferocious defender who would tackle everyone in his path, so they gave him a nickname: "Rack 'em, Stack 'em, Zakem".
